Beyond Malibu is a wilderness program through Young Life that has been taking kids into the mountains on hiking trips since 1970 and sea kayaking since 1998. Hiking trips are week-long treks into the Canadian Coastal Mountains surrounding the Princess Louisa Inlet. Your child has an opportunity to experience this once in a life adventure. All trips are led by well-trained and experienced staff. No experience is necessary as the participants are taught the skills needed to safely participate in the trip.

WHERE: Egmont, British Columbia, Canada surrounding the Princess Louisa Inlet. 

WHEN: June 20th to June 28th 2024. 

COST: $~$2,100 - $2,400. Total due by June 17th. Trip cost is dependent upon the final cost of transportation: flights, buses, ferry. We will begin flight reservations the week of January 30, 2023. Non-refundable deposit of $500 (confirmation of attending this trip) due by Wednesday, February 14th, 2024. To register, $100 of the $500 deposit is required. Our 2nd non-refundable deposit ($500) is due March 27th. YL becomes responsible for your child's entire cost at this point.

PASSPORT INFO: When crossing the Canadian border by ground anyone 19 and older must have a passport, or other machine readable/scan-able ID such as an enhanced driver's license, passport card, or Nexus Pass. The best option is always a passport. For participants 18 and under, an original birth certificate, a government issued picture ID, and a Border Crossing Consent Letter (above) will suffice in place of a passport.

Scholarships & Fundraising (Different than other YL trips, please read): 

Scholarships: We understand the cost of the Beyond Malibu trip is incredibly high. We are committed to doing whatever we can to make it work for seriously interested students to attend. We are asking that every family fills out this scholarship form by March 6th. Your information will be completely confidential. 

Fundraising: Our coffee fundraiser (selling Five & Hoek coffee) AND mulch sales where any profit from either sale will go directly to your child’s balance. We are also currently working to create a few other “bigger” fundraising opportunities specifically for Beyond Malibu participants (EX. Service work day this spring, etc.).
